He took on many roles: writer, revolutionary, philosopher, libertine. He disdained the social norms and he demanded unrestrained freedom. He questioned every assumption about love, beauty, even violence, and he ignored the taboos. He wanted to attack the sun and ignite the world, liberate us from our preconceptions, break down the barriers which keep us from accepting our own desires. We identify with him, because we try to do the same.
Which is why Etat Libre d'Orange has chosen to celebrate a man who celebrated extremes. We have invited the Marquis de Sade to join our family of outrageous perfumes. He has accepted with pleasure... And maybe a little pain.

The candle Marquis de Sade is inspired by the inkwell of the Marquis. lt is a mixture of refinement and pleasure. Its first fruity notes are as one caress which leaves place with the temptation and opens you towards an incandescent appetite.
As the candle burns and crackles, an impertinent perfume, of wood and leather, comes to murmur you some words loose.
CANDLE MARQUIS DE SADE
For the perfume our nose was inspired of letters of the Marquis de Sade in which he evokes scents which bewitched the evenings organized in his château of Lacoste: leather flower, black musk and wooden bark. The fragrance spreads and submerges you in a sweet, warm and powerful atmosphere. The passion eventually is right.
Head notes : black tea in the bergamot orange
Middle notes : labdanum, beautiful of night, wood of rosewood. Bottom notes : leather flower, patchouli, bark of wood, black musk.

THE MARQUIS' SKULL
Who wants the Marquis' head ?
THE MARQUIS DE SADE'S REAL SKULL
On Friday, December 2, 1814, at the Hospice de Charenton, Donatien Alphonse, François Marquis de Sade, died at the age of 74. Buried in Charenton, the body was exhumed a few years later, when the cemetery was moved. On this occasion, the young Doctor LJ Ramon, who had accompanied him in his last hours, had the Marquis's skull handed over for the purpose of studying it. Dr. Spurzheim, a disciple of Dr. Gall, father of phrenology, borrowed the skull and moulded it. The skull travelled to England, America and Germany to illustrate lectures on this topic. When Dr. Spurzheim died, the skull was gone. The only thing left is the moulding that is in the Museum of Man (musée de l'homme).
BRONZE SKULL
According to phrenologists, the skull of the Marquis de Sade "was in every respect similar to that of a father of the Church".
This bronze of the skull of the Marquis de Sade was made from authentic moulding. This work of art was performed by the Master founder of art Avangini in May 2012. Each bronze is signed with the initials of the Marquis de Sade.
They are numbered from 1 to 99.
As you will have understood, this numbered moulding is rare. However, of the 99 copies in this series, there are still a few.
